Review and certificate

Certificate

Why it matters You did real work in this course, and a certificate lets you show it to an employer, a client or simply yourself. It is also one last privacy exercise: you decide what goes on it and who gets to see it.

One pass, many stamps

Think of a passport. You get one passport, and each country you visit adds a dated stamp. Your Watched Web certificate works the same way: you hold one pass, and each leg you finish adds a stamp with the date you finished it.

Certificate of completion: a record that you finished the course's graded work. It is not a professional certification, which is usually an exam set and watched by an outside body. We use the honest name on purpose.

Stamp: one entry on your pass for one leg, showing the leg's name and the date you cleared it. A stamp's date never changes once it is added.

How a leg is cleared

A leg is cleared when you have passed every graded lesson in it: every quiz and every code exercise. Leg 8 is cleared when you pass every quiz in it (the capstone lessons, the spaced review, the final check and this page) plus any one capstone project. Leg 8 needs only Legs 1 to 4, so you can finish without the deep half.

  • Core certificate: Legs 1 to 4 plus Leg 8, five stamps.
  • Full certificate: all eight legs, eight stamps.

You can claim your pass after your first cleared leg and add stamps later as you go. When you add a stamp, the name on the pass and the dates of the stamps already there stay exactly as they were.

The "self-assessed" stamp

Leg 4's project, a threat model for a product you use, is kept private and checked against a rubric by you, with feedback from the on-device tutor. No hidden test can grade it, so the Leg 4 stamp says self-assessed. That is not a weaker stamp. It is an accurate one, and accuracy is what makes the rest of the pass believable.

What the certificate proves, and what it does not

Your answers and code were graded in your own browser, with no account. When you pass a graded lesson, your browser tells the site which lesson you passed (never your answers or your code), and the site gives back a signed record of the pass, and a stamp is only added when the records for the whole leg are there. So a stamp shows genuine self-paced completion of the graded work. It does not show a supervised exam, and the certificate says so.

What is on it, and who sees it

Your pass shows the name you type when you claim it, the course title, and your stamps with their dates. There is no email address, no account and no profile behind it. If you prefer, you can use just your first name or initials. That choice is a tiny threat model of its own: who will see this, and what do they need to know?

You get two kinds of link (the same system as the Python + AI course, checked October 2026):

LinkWho it is forWhat it does
Your private linkOnly youOpens your own certificate page, where you print, save, share and add new stamps
The public verify pageAnyone you chooseShows the name, the course and the stamps with their dates, read-only

The private link works like a key to your pass, much like the cloakroom ticket from Leg 1: whoever holds it can act as the owner. Keep it somewhere safe, such as your password manager, and never paste it into a CV or a public post. For sharing, use the verify page or its certificate code. That way an employer can check the pass is real without holding the key to it.

Try it Once you have a pass, open the public verify page in a private window, where you have no saved data. You should see exactly what a stranger would see, and nothing more. Check that the name is how you want it to appear.

A common misconception

"The certificate is the finish line." It is really a bookmark. Browser facts in this course carry a date because they change. The habits are what last: cleaning a link before you share it, asking what an embed can see, escaping by default, and keeping your Daily Review going.

Where to go next

  • Redo your Leg 1 audit every six months; settings and apps drift.
  • Keep your capstone write-up as a portfolio piece, with its honest limits.
  • If you stopped at the core, the deep half (Legs 5 to 7) is waiting, and each leg adds a stamp to the same pass.

Recap

  • One pass, one dated stamp per cleared leg: five for the core, eight for the full course.
  • It is a certificate of completion for self-paced graded work, and Leg 4's stamp says self-assessed.
  • Keep the private link to yourself; share the public verify page.
  • The pass holds only the name you choose, the course title and your dated stamps.
